Sonata for Cello and Piano (1993 - 1995) [MS 27] was commissioned by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Cello Sonata quotes the ‘Lament for Limerick’ in the slow movement. This movement is an oblique reflection on the Shankill bombing and its aftermath.
