Joyriders is the story of a group of teenagers on a Youth Training Programme in Belfast in the 1980s. It explores their relationships and hopes during a volatile period in Belfast.

the songs in the play were written by residents of Divis Flats in Belfast. The sequel Clowns returns to the characters eight years later.
