A soldier squats in the foreground, in black and white, while police officers search autumn woodland behind him. Above, unseen by them, emerges the Virgin Mary floating among clouds.
The squatting soldier protecting police patrols was a common sight during the Troubles. The picture seems to recall the sense that security personnel at work were detached from the communities they operated in.
