This sculpture is a representation of a challenging symbol of sectarian ritual. Although the tradition of Bonfires can and are viewed as contentious and provocative within Northern Irish culture, architecturally a kind of malign beauty in their construction can be found. This version of a Bonfire plays with a kind of grotesque beauty, playing with popular culture film references such as the Wicker Man or the Little Shop of Horrors.
