Ardoyne Rag and Bone Man

Ardoyne is a working class and mainly Catholic and Irish nationalist district in North Belfast. It gained notoriety due to the large number of incidents during the Troubles. In the 1950s, it was customary for ‘Rag and Bone’ men to collect old clothes and household items in a cart. Ardoyne Rag and Bone Man (1979) underpins the poverty of the Ardoyne people.
