Titanic Town

Written by Anne Devlin (Screenplay) and Mary Costello (Novel)

Titanic Town is based on the true story of Bernie McPhelimy, set in West Belfast during the Troubles. She lives with her family and when a close friend is killed she becomes involved in campaigning for peace.

Despite the objections from her husband, family and community, Bernie talks to the British government and the IRA in her attempts to bring about peace. The film also presents a picture of family and neighbour life during the Troubles. The film is based on the novel by Mary Costello, with a screenplay by Anne Devlin, and it presents an autographical picture of a teenage girl growing up in Belfast in the 1970s.

The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
