A Cold Floor?

The Cold Floor, for me, is an exploration of how we might imprison ourselves through accepted and established belief systems. I had many ideas about the form the sculpture might take, and in the end, decided to create a floor made of solid ice. I wanted viewers to feel the cold floor for themselves as they viewed a Bible, a totemic symbol of belief systems, and considered the possibility of a person standing on it.
This theme has been produced in various forms: There are painted versions of the visual idea and a large wood sculpture of the same.
